California - FPPC sued over donation limits - sacbee.com

California - FPPC sued over donation limits - sacbee.com: "A business group trying to raise $50 million for Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's 'reform' agenda filed suit Wednesday against the state's Fair Political Practices Commission.

Citizens to Save California, created last month at arm's length from Schwarzenegger so it could get around an FPPC limit on how much a contributor could donate to a 'candidate-controlled' finance committee, sued to get that limit thrown out.

Unless the 8-month-old rule is removed, the lawsuit argues, it would 'immediately chill the exercise of the constitutionally protected rights of free speech and association on issues of substantial public importance.'"
